Cherry Red Opulence in Haymarket, VA
Chic elegance is key in this new finished basement in Haymarket. Decked out with a home theater, cherry wet bar, billiard room and an exercise room, this project was completed with the idea of a stylish escape in mind.
Timeless Elegance
The recessed alcoves create a perfect framing space for artwork, playing on the built-in ceiling lighting and adding incredible depth and dimension to the entire basement. We chose to outfit the fully conditioned wine cellar, which can hold up to 2,000 bottles, in mahogany to take advantage of its timeless elegance and distinguished character.
Perfectly Designed
It was important for us to streamline and completely replace the ceilings in order to give the space a more cohesive flow, so we modified the existing ductwork in order to achieve the look flawlessly. Having ceilings that match the overall look you want is imperative when remodeling a room. If all the details are perfect but your ceiling looks aged, the room will lose its cohesiveness. Modifying ductwork and structural work is de rigueur for Berriz Design, as we deliver projects perfectly designed with the customer in mind.
Travertine Tiles
Opposite the ceilings, the floors were another priority to tie together the space. We chose to use travertine tiles because travertine floors are durable enough to last for centuries, yet boast a beauty unmatched by any other natural stone. The creamy color and smooth texture adds a refined quality to the flooring, and since it’s a naturally abundant material it’s relatively eco-friendly.
Rich Cherry Wood
The warm tones are continued in the cherry wood accents around the basement, including the all-cherry wet bar. We chose a brighter wood for the main space because of the richness in the red of cherry wood. Featured in the large home exercise room is a mirrored wall and a full bath with a steam shower. There’s nothing like being able to relax after a good workout with your very own spa-quality bathroom.
Comfortable and Cozy
Our clients will enjoy steaming the day away before unwinding in front of the open theater. Spaced between two stately white columns, the home theater is large enough to accommodate the whole family, yet intimate enough to feel comfortable and cozy.
