A fire pit and built-in grill base warms up this paver pool deck. We built a heavy cedar pergola with ceiling fans, along with custom fencing, to complete this outdoor space. This country club landscape needed to be elegant, inviting, and unique.
Pool Deck
We created the pool deck from pavers of varying sizes, creating a slip-resistant surface that stays relatively cool in the sun. The wide expanse of decking around the pool allows plenty of room for members and guests to get comfortable and have their towels and other pool necessities near their lounge chairs.
Built-In Grill
A fully-equipped grill is built in to the decking area and is surrounded by space for dining tables and chairs. At the opposite end of the pool’s diving board, a heavy, custom-built cedar pergola shades a table-and-chairs set.
Pergola
The pergola features four sturdy columns, allowing clear views of the extensive custom landscaping we designed and installed around the pool area. Ceiling fans hang from the pergola’s roof to keep members and guests cool during Virginia’s steamy summers.
In-Ground Fire Pit
When cool evenings descend, friends can cozy up and converse around the built-in, in-ground fire pit, which is surrounded by comfortable chairs. The fire pit area is surrounded by a seating wall, beyond which lie simple plantings that create a transition from the paver decking to the outer space with trees and extensive greenery.
Landscaping
Large stepping stones are interspersed with greenery and plantings to lead visitors to and from the pool are to other parts of the country club estate. The entire design is meant to provide both a visual and physical getaway from wherever the club’s members and guests have left.
Pool Safety
Upon arrival, visitors should feel instantly welcomed, relaxed, and ready to enjoy themselves. The 20’ x 40’ pool has an automatic cover to protect the pool from debris and provide safety when the pool is not in use. At Berriz Design Build, we always consider pool safety when designing and constructing pools.
Water Feature
A deceptively simple fountain feature directs elegant streams up and over the swimming pool to delight swimmers and poolside sunbathers alike. Thought this space was designed and built for a country club, it differs very little from the residential pool, outdoor kitchen, and deck spaces we build.
