Custom cherry cabinetry and trim add distinctive refinement to this fully remodeled Oakhill kitchen. A tumbled marble backsplash complements the porcelain tile floors and granite countertops. We installed Subzero and Wolf stainless steel appliances. The kitchen in this Oakhill home had a lot of potential—and the homeowners wanted to make the most of it!
Complete Kitchen Remodel
We did a complete remodel, tearing out the white cabinets, dismantling the existing island (which featured a gas range), pulling up the wood flooring, and doing major structural modifications. A transformation from top to bottom, this kitchen remodel started with a new porcelain tile floor. Its warm beige shade and rustic, natural pattern was chosen to complement the custom glaze finish we applied to the ceiling and walls, creating a touch of Mediterranean appeal. Three pendant lights hang from the ceiling, picking up the sparkle and shine of the black granite countertop on the center kitchen island. Outfitted with a sink and cabinet space, the island offers seating space between wooden table legs elaborately carved into a basket-weave pattern.
Custom-Built Cherry Cabinets
The custom-designed and built cherry cabinets boast raised-panel doors—though we mixed in a couple of narrow, glass-front cabinets on either side of the bay window above the stainless-steel sink. A brushed steel faucet, matching the one on the island, shines against the tumbled marble backsplash. The cabinets are topped with crown molding and complemented by simple, brushed-finish handles and drawer pulls. A black-and-cream diamond checkerboard tile backsplash behind the six-burner Wolf gas range picks up the black trim on the tile that surrounds the kitchen, as well as the black accents on the porcelain tile floor. The kitchen opens to the dining room on the right of the range.
