The homeowner really wanted more than just a grill and mini-fridge, so we built an entire brick base and installed a full range, warming drawer, spacious under-counter stainless steel refrigerator, full-size sink, and an imposing stainless steel range hood.

What makes this kitchen truly stand out is the massive black-and-white checkerboard backsplash. Set against the distressed cream-colored brick, it makes a statement—one that brings to mind a rustic French bakery or café. The checkerboard tile is repeated on the kitchen’s ample counter space.
