We built this Alexandria custom deck with top-grade Ipe and surrounded it with a Pennsylvania flagstone patio. The deck features a built in bench. For this custom, multi-level deck, we worked with the homeowner to choose high-quality Ipe decking.
IPE Decking
Ipe is beautiful, insect-resistant, and durable—with proper maintenance, it can last up to 25 years or longer. Ipe, which is three times harder than cedar, is also one of the most flame-resistant woods available today.
The Deck
The deck is accessed through French doors from the home, which open to steps leading to its main level. Here, there is ample space for seating. The main and upper levels are enclosed by a custom white fence.
Pennsylvania Flagstone Patio
The lower level is just three steps down. This hexagonal space features built-in Ipe bench seating and two steps down to the Pennsylvania flagstone patio. Lush green grass and a bed of hardy plantings wait beyond the patio space.
