Warm & Elegant Basement in Oakton, VA
To create a warm and inviting entertaining space in this Oakton finished basement project we completely remodeled the space with the family in mind. We removed all original framing and built a more open layout with structural modifications to relocated support columns that inhibited the open feel of the design. To add to the distinguished look we did a complete remodel of the stairs and landings and added iron balusters.
Open Home Theater
To turn this basement into a great entertaining hub we designed an open home theater with a mahogany frame around the flat screen TV. You can find another TV hidden behind the mirror of the wet bar, perfect for hosting parties or sports events.
Fully Conditioned Wine Cellar
A fully conditioned wine cellar, with mahogany wine racking with capacity for 1,800 bottles, can be found next to the wet bar, enclosed by three glass doors that turn the room into its own artwork. A game room, home gym, and guest bedroom with a full bathroom make this area perfect for hosting holidays and parties.
Streamlined and Cohesive Look
For a streamlined and cohesive look we glazed and textured the walls and ceilings, modifying the ductwork to create a seamless feel. Each room flows effortlessly into the next, creating a divided yet open floor plan. Cove and sconce lighting give the space a warm, soft glow throughout.
Mahogany Woodwork
For all the woodwork, including the trim, doors, and wet bar, we chose to use a rich mahogany. Mahogany is a wonderful wood to incorporate in your design as it can remain stable and resist warping for many years. It’s easy to carve, allowing for intricate designs and personalized details.
Clean, Elegant Theme
The reddish-brown tones in this project perfectly contrast the creamy walls and travertine floors, really allowing the character of the wood to shine through while maintaining the clean, elegant theme of the rest of the space.
