We built stone retaining and seat walls around this multi-level Pennsylvania flagstone patio. A built-in grill base makes outdoor entertaining easy while custom landscaping accentuates the view. Casual Conversation Seating
The owners of this Gainesville home wanted cozy spaces for socializing on their patio, so to the right, casual conversation seating is shaded by standing deck umbrellas and surrounded by a seat wall. Three ornate globe lamps are installed along the seating wall to provide light so the party can last through the evening.
Custom Outdoor Kitchen
Directly outside the French doors, a table-and-chairs set provides seating for guests awaiting a hot meal from the outdoor kitchen. A matching globe lamp is installed on the end of the seating wall to cast a soft glow on after-dark diners. Set into a built-in stone base, the custom outdoor kitchen at this Gainesville home features a high-end covered grill and plenty of space for food prep and serving. The two sets of curved flagstone steps are set with rustic stone risers for visual interest, as is the short retaining wall around the planting area next to the built-in grill.
Custom Landscaping
Our custom landscaping for this space included short bushes to help create the transition from the patio and dining area to the grass below, as well as taller trees for privacy and substantial bed plantings to create a lush yet manicured scene. At Berriz, we use flagstone often in our deck and patio projects because it’s durable, beautiful, and available in a number of subtle shades and grain variations that make every outdoor space we build unique. Flagstone appears again on the wide pathways in this backyard, leading to the side gate, which is part of the custom black iron fencing we installed around the space.
