Durango stone countertops and tumbled marble floors catch the light in this newly-built kitchen. Custom cabinetry, Viking and Subzero appliances, and a large center island bring the look together. This brand new, custom-built kitchen in Gainesville was a dream come true for our client.
Custom-Built Kitchen, A Dream Come True…
Combining French country chic with some unique personal pizazz, this space takes full advantage of the home’s site, with a full wall of windows that looks out onto a beautiful view. The expansive tumbled marble floor lays an elegant, neutral foundation for thick, decorative baseboards that frame the glaze-finish walls. Crown molding surrounds the windows and gives the cabinet tops a polished finish.
Custom, Cream-Colored Cabinetry
Custom, cream-colored cabinetry features recessed panels and carved wooden knobs—even on the refrigerator. We mixed full doors with glass-fronted to add some variety to the kitchen’s landscape. The double-door glass-front cabinets flanking the range hood feature carved arch detail framing the multi-paned glass. We added window detail above the entry to the hallway to bring the look together and allow more light into the hall.
The Center Island
The center island is topped with cream Durango stone and features a stainless steel sink and a bright, brushed steel high-arc faucet. Recessed panels and bead board in the same style as the kitchen’s cabinets form the island’s base. A desk and chair are built into the end of a corner wall of cupboards to give the homeowners a dedicated space for household tasks like paying bills, planning meals, and organizing the family calendar.
Professional Gas Stove
The professional gas stove is installed in its own tiled alcove and topped by a charming carved range hood with decorative molding and an ornamental pediment. The backsplash behind the range and surrounding the rest of the kitchen’s work space is done in tumbled marble. Task lighting, ceiling can lights and an elaborate iron chandelier provide ample illumination when the sun goes down.
